How to set up multi-currency pricing on your Shopify store?

Set up multi-currency display, exchange rate rules, rounding logic, and geolocation-related preview flow.

This guide covers the full multi-currency setup flow: adjust display format first, add currencies, edit exchange rate and rounding rules, then preview the storefront before deciding whether to enable geolocation.

Set up currency formatting first

Copy the recommended formatting template from the app, then update HTML with currency and HTML without currency in Shopify General settings. This ensures the storefront price structure is correct first.

Add and edit currencies

After adding the currencies you need, continue into Edit to adjust exchange rate mode and price rounding. Auto rate works better for faster launch, while manual rate is better if your pricing strategy is more specific.

  • Use Add Currency to add the target currency
  • Use Edit to choose automatic or manual exchange rate
  • Turn rounding on or off based on your pricing preference

Preview and geolocation

Preview first and confirm the storefront currency switch and display logic look right. If you want currency to change automatically by visitor region, continue into geolocation setup afterward.
