How to translate your Shopify store?
Walk through the standard store translation flow from language setup to editing, publishing, and preview.
This guide explains the baseline Ciwi translation workflow: add your target language, start the translation task, then edit, publish, and preview the result.
Step 1: Add languages and start translation
Open the Language page and add your target language first. Since Shopify itself has practical language management limits, it is usually better to start with the markets you truly need rather than adding every language at once.
- Use Add Language to create the target market language
- After adding it, click Translate to open the translation setup page
- Select the language, launch the task, and monitor progress in Dashboard
Step 2: Edit translations before publish
After the task finishes, go to Manage and review content language by language. The machine output usually appears on the right side, and you can refine important copy before publishing.
- Switch tabs by language to review the output
- Use Edit to refine important items in detail
- Save your changes and return to the language list for publishing
Step 3: Publish and preview
After editing, return to the language page and click Publish so the new version becomes visible on the storefront. Then use Preview to confirm how the live market experience actually looks.
It is best to check product pages, FAQs, and major marketing blocks first to make sure terminology, offers, and structured content all read correctly.
Lock terminology with glossary
Once the basic translation workflow is working, glossary is usually the next control layer worth setting up.
